The band was formed in 2001, all colleagues from the University of the Philippines - College of Music, bonded together with their common love for playing and sharing Jazz. Their name was derived from a play of words from the 1960's Cal Tjader / Dizzie Gillespie piece: "Wachi-Wara" which means "Soul Sauce". Their sound was originally conceptualized as a Latin-Jazz band. But as of late, they have now embraced other forms by including Funk and Modern Jazz in their arsenal. The band is composed of Guitarist - Junji Lerma , Bassist - Francis De Veyra, Trumpetist - Richie Gonzaga , Alto / Tenor and Soprano Saxophonist - Anthony Morris, "Fafa" Isla Antinero on the Trombone and Drummer - Arwin Nava. The goal of the group is to reach people through the harmonic intricacies of Jazz and the exhilarating rhythms of Afro-Latin Music.
